Employment
It is a racist delusion that positions White people as earning their wealth while Black people refuse to work their way out of poverty. The reality is that wealthy white people make more money while sleeping than Black people make while working the night shift.
Employment statistics:
2024 unemployment rate: Blacks 6% vs Whites 3.6%
Employment participation rates: Blacks 62%, Whites 63%
With similar resumes, Blacks were 54% less likely to be hired. Blacks who were hired earned 12% less pay
Median household income: Blacks – $40,258 vs Whites - $68.145
The national statistics above, as poor as they are, do not reveal an additional Louisiana hardship. The state’s minimum wage is $7.25, hardly a livable wage. So even if one is employed full-time, he may only make $290.00 a week before taxes. Higher wage jobs often depend on family connections.
