Repair The Breach NOLA

Our Mission

Repair the Breach NOLA is committed to advocating for reparations by raising awareness, engaging in community dialogue, and collaborating with faith communities to address the vast racial inequity in generational wealth in New Orleans. We will serve as a resource for congregations who recognize the historic spiritual and economic problems and desire to participate with other congregations seeking to remedy it.  Donated funds are used only to promote economic justice for African Americans in New Orleans.

Our Vision

Repair the Breach NOLA seeks to repair three breaches. We envision a future where:

  • the sin of slavery and the ongoing historical injustices are acknowledged

  • reparatory justice leads to equitable opportunities for Black people in New Orleans

  • our racial divide is repaired.

We strive for collective healing, empowerment, and systemic change.

What Are the Three Breaches?

  • The first breach is between us and God for these sins and their ongoing consequences.

  • The second is the breach in communication and trust between the Black and White communities in the United States.

  • The third is addressing the wealth breach that continues as a result of slavery and its ongoing impact.

Our Solutions

Repair the Breach NOLA will close these gaps by:

  • Raising awareness in the white community of the continuing effects of four centuries of oppression and neglect of Black people in America.

  • Raising money, initially from the white religious community in New Orleans, and later from the white community in general.

  • Safeguarding the money in a responsible way in compliance with state and federal laws.

  • Dispersing the funds to members of the Black community in New Orleans in such a way to help diminish the wealth gap between Black and white people in the United States.
